Client email

How to clean links before sending client emails

Client emails should be easy to read and easy to trust. Long copied URLs with ad click IDs, newsletter tags, and social tracking fields can look messy, especially in proposals, support replies, handoff notes, and reports.

Prepare client-safe links

Use LinkClean Shelf to strip common tracking clutter, then test the final link before sending.

Checklist

  1. Clean links copied from ads, social platforms, newsletters, and search results.
  2. Keep parameters that control the exact page, product, file, or search result.
  3. Use descriptive link text instead of pasting a very long raw URL when possible.
  4. Open each cleaned link in a private or fresh tab to check access.
  5. Confirm private dashboards, documents, and portals are intended to be shared.

Extra caution

Cleaning tracking does not change permissions. A private document link may still expose access if the document settings are too open.

FAQ

Should I use link shorteners? Only when the client expects them. Clean direct links are often more transparent.

Should I remove my own campaign tags? Not if you intentionally need attribution. Remove accidental copied clutter.
